NEW DELHI: A revamped light and sound show that fuses art and cutting-edge technology and tells the story of India through the ages, will return to the Red Fort on Tuesday.
Restarting after a gap of five years, the show, in its current avatar, will be opened by home minister Amit Shah and culture, tourism and DoNER minister G Kishan Reddy.
Titled 'Jai Hind', the three-part show will showcase the history of India from the rise of the Marathas to the War of Independence in 1857, the rise of the Indian National Army, the INA trials, India's freedom struggle and its continuous progress over 75 years.
Culture ministry sources said the show will use projection mapping, live action films, light and immersive sound, actors, dancers and puppets in different parts of the Red Fort, starting with Naubatkhana to Deewan-e-Aam and Deewan-e-Khas and will be presented to the public in English and Hindi.
The 17th century ASI-protected monument, built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and which has been enlisted as a Unesco world heritage site, also houses four new museums - the Yaad-e-Jallian museum, the museum on 1857-India's first war of Independence, Azaadi ke Diwane and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose museum. With the addition of the light and sound show, the Archaeological Survey of India seeks to attract more tourists to the site.
The show has been curated by Dalmia Bharat Ltd, which was appointed 'Monument Mitra' in 2018 and was tasked with developing tourist amenities at the Red Fort.
