Thane: A jewellery shop at Kopri (E) was broken into and gold worth over Rs 4.3 lakh stolen by robbers who accessed the store by boring a hole in the
common wall the shop shared with the adjoining one. A Turbhe Naka resident, Dharmendra Tiwari, was caught red-handed and the loot recovered from him. A manhunt has been launched for his two accomplices. The jewellery store, at Narayan Koli chowk, is owned by one Dilip Kataria. Being Monday, it was the day off, but Kataria went to his shop around 2.30pm. On noticing that the lights on, he opened the shop only to find a 2x2ft hole on the wall and one of the suspects inside. “It is suspected that the accused were working as carpenters in the adjoining shop,” a police officer said, adding that the stolen gold has been recovered by them.
