Silchar: Security has been stepped up in Karimganj district’s Lowairpua locality following violence over the brutal killing of a 16-year-old
Bajrang Dal activist on Sunday evening.
Sources in the Bazaricheera police station said the deceased, Shambu Koiri, was allegedly attacked by Anamul Haque alias Salim, a resident of Lowairpua, with a sharp weapon at 7.30pm on Sunday over some past enmity.
Shambu, who was returning home from a training camp of Bajrang Dal in Hailakandi, suffered critical injuries and started bleeding profusely. Passers-by immediately gathered at the spot and rushed him to Makunda Christian Leprosy & General Hospital where he was declared brought dead. After the news of Shambu’s death spread, locals came out on the streets to register their protest.
