BJP MLA Dhullu Mahto surrenders, sent to prison

Dhanbad: BJP MLA from Baghmara, Dhullu Mahto, surrendered before the court of SDJM, Dhanbad Abhishek Srivastava, on Monday in an old case related to getting a person against whom an arrest warrant was issued, freed from police custody. Mahto was remanded to judicial custody and the lower court convicted him to 18-month imprisonment in the case.
Reports said the manager of a coal transportation company had filed a case against Rajesh Gupta and four others, accusing them of demanding extortion money and threatening him with dire consequences in 2013. When the court issued an arrest warrant against the accused and police arrested Gupta, Mahto got him freed from police custody using force.
