Thiruvananthapuram: The increase in footfall at Thiruvananthapuram Zoo reflected the grand Christmas and New Year celebrations in the district after a two-year pandemic break.
As much as Rs 54.3 lakh in revenue was clocked in the last month of the previous year with Rs 26.3 lakh earned in the last 10 days.
“Last year saw people embracing a situation of normalcy after two years of being indoors. Apart from the exhibitions and shows organized in the city, the zoo, museum and art gallery too hosted various events throughout the year. The flower arrangements on our premises, for example, curated at the time of the city flower show, were a big hit among our visitors,” says Director of Museums and Zoos S Abu.
The last ten days of the festival season recorded the major share of visitors with December 27 having the highest collection of around Rs 5.2 lakh for the entire facility, including the art museum, art gallery,
Natural History Museum, zoo and planning cell.
“Compared to Rs 32 lakh revenue in December 2021, the last month of the previous year has definitely witnessed quite a jump,” he added.
