JAIPUR: The office of the commissioner for specially abled persons has written to the department of social justice and empowerment requesting it to provide a list of benefits to be provided to the families of specially-abled pensioners in the state as a part of government’s decision to grant them BPL (below poverty line) status. It also sought to know the process through which PwD pensioners will get benefits.
Hemant Bhai Goyal, national vice-president of Divyang Adhikar Mahasangh, had filed a petition with the disability in this matter. “The government should issue guidelines enlisting the number of benefits to be provided to specially-abled pensioners,” Goyal said.
Meanwhile, the social justice and empowerment department is planning to integrate portals of Divyang pensioners, National Food Security Act (NFSA), National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Swavlamban portals for better facilitation of BPL (below poverty line) benefits to the families of specially-abled pensioners.
“After the integration of the portals, families of specially-abled pensioners will not have to apply for various benefits individually,” Samit Sharma, secretary, social justice and empowerment department, had earlier said.
“The Divyang pensioners will not be issued BPL cards. They will only be given benefits on a par with BPL cardholders (families). An order in this regard was issued in April,” he added.
Goyal had raised an issue that the state government had failed to issue BPL cards to the families of specially-abled pensioners.
