Man rapes 8-year-old daughter in wife's absence, arrested in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: A 35-year-old man from the Krishnanagar area of the city on Saturday afternoon raped his eight-year-old daughter when his wife was away from home to attend to an ailing relative.
The accused, an autorickshaw driver, had raped his daughter when her mother left her with him when she took their ailing relative to a private hospital.
The girl was in immense pain and had high fever after being raped. The accused told a woman in his neighbourhood to check his daughter as she had some issues.
The neighbour checked her and found that the eight-year-old had swelling in her private parts. She informed the girl's mother who rushed to her house and later she along with her husband took her to a private hospital.
A doctor in the private hospital referred her to GCS hospital in Amdupura where the treating doctor found something suspicious. He examined the girl, found that she had been raped and immediately informed the police.
A team of Krishnanagar police went to the hospital and first enquired with the girl's mother about the rape. The girl's mother told cops that she had left her with her father only.
Unaware of the fact that the cops knew about the rape, the girl's father also remained present at the hospital. Cops questioned him about the rape, and he broke down while confessing that he had raped his daughter.
Krishnanagar police arrested him under the charges of rape and began an investigation.
