Dombivli man duped of Rs 7 lakh in online trading scam

NAVI MUMBAI: A 32-year-old man residing in Dombivli and working as supervisor at a company in Mahape has been duped of Rs 7 lakh by a cyberfraudster who offered him part-time job by claiming that he can earn over Rs 18,000 per day.
The accused sent him a link on WhatsApp and after he opened it, he learnt that the offer was for investment in online trading.
The incident occured between November 29 and December 12 last year, when the complainant had invested Rs 6.9 lakh in online trading, but was unable to withdraw his profit reflecting in his online trading account. When the complainant asked the accused, he told him to deposit Rs 2.17 lakh more to withdraw his money. That’s when he realised that he has been duped, and lodged a complaint with cyber cell.
An FIR was registered at Turbhe MIDC police station on Friday. Ravindra Daundkar, senior inspector of Turbhe MIDC police station said,"If the victim immediately lodges a complaint, it is possible for the police to block the bank account.”
