The NSE Nifty index ended the session 241.75 points up at 18101.2, while BSE Sensex rose 846.94 points to 60747.31.
In the Nifty index, Mahindra & .(up 3.59 per cent), .(up 3.38 per cent), .(up 3.35 per cent), .(up 3.11 per cent) and .(up 2.95 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
On the other hand, .(down 2.11 per cent), .(down 1.14 per cent), .(down 0.59 per cent), .(down 0.52 per cent) and .(down 0.42 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
