25-year-old man shot for passing comments on girl in rural Patna

PATNA: A 25-year-old man was shot dead by miscreants in a clash between two groups for passing comments on a girl at Khusrupur in Patna district on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Ram Pratap, son of Vimal Singh, a resident of Malpur village under Khusrupur police station area of Fatuha.
According to police, the incident took place when the deceased reached one Dhanjay’s house and had a scuffle over a family dispute. During the fight, Ram Pratap passed some comments on a girl following which he was shot in the head by the girl’s kin. He succumbed to his injuries while being taken to PMCH.
SHO Chandrabhanu reached the spot with a police team and started investigation into the matter. The body was recovered and sent for the post-mortem. Fatuha SDPO Rajesh Kumar Manjhi said, “There was a dispute going on between the two families for the last four years. An FIR has been lodged at Khusrupur police station against four persons. One accused Rananjay Kumar was arrested on Sunday,” he said.
The SHO said about four years back, Triveni, son of Arun Singh had eloped with daughter of Ghamandi Singh, after which the family members were having enmity. “On Saturday night, Ram Pratap, relative of the girl’s family reached Dhanajay’s (relative of Triveni’s family) house and had a scuffle. The man commented that he would forcefully take the girl, the way they had taken their sister. The police are conducting raids to arrest the other accused,” he said.
