Ramayan Conclave to be held in Kashi, ₹22L budget gets go-ahead
Varanasi: The district tourism and cultural board, on Saturday evening, sanctioned a budget of Rs 22 lakh for holding a Ramayan conclave in the city.
At the meeting of the board held in the presence of the district magistrate S Rajalingam, district panchayat chairperson Poonam Marya, MLAs- Saurabh Srivastava and T Ram at Rifle Club on Saturday evening, the participants proposed to hold a Ramayan conclave at Assi Ghat or any other suitable site in the city. The board passed the proposal of Rs 22 lakh for holding this event.
Many other proposals on tourism and cultural development were including renovation of Sarangnath, Madhyameshwar temples, beautification of ghats, improving facilities at the sites like Natkeshwari Bhavani, Tilbhandeshwar, Pancho Shivala, Markandeya Mahadev, Shooltakneshwar temples and other important religious sites were also passed in the meeting.
Establishment of tourist facility centres at airport, railway stations, and bus stands, help desk to facilitate visitors from different states, bio-toilets at ghats, early disposal of proposals of hotels, encouraging adventure tourism including paragliding, water sports, and putting caution boards at ghats where bathing is dangerous and other proposals were also made at the meeting.
Tourism officials informed the participants that youths were being trained to guide visitors by interacting with them in their native languages. Participants also discussed the needs of literature on events like Ramleela of Ramnagar, promotion of eco-tourism in vicinity of Kashi and adding glitter to Shivratri Mahotsava.
The DM asked the officials of tourism and culture department officials to chalk out a strategy to execute these proposals.
