Tributes pour in, Prez, Vice-Prez & PM remember contribution
Prayagraj: Tributes poured in from top leaders across the country following the demise of 88- year-old veteran BJP leader and former Governor of West Bengal, Keshari Nath Tripathi, on Sunday.
In her condolence message, President Droupadi Murmu termed Tripathi as a great legal luminary who will be remembered for his public service.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also condoled Tripathi’s demise and said that Tripathi would always be remembered for his erudition, exemplifying the highest degree of commitment and dedication to public service.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi Ji was respected for his service and intellect. He was well versed in Constitutional matters. He played a key role in building BJP in UP and worked hard for the state’s progress. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted: “I extend my deepest condolences on the demise of Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi ji, former Governor of West Bengal. A man of great substance, his contribution to our country will remain etched in our minds.”
UP deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said, “His demise is a personal an irreparable loss to me. He was a source of inspiration for BJP workers. His contribution to the organisation has been immense.”
UP minister for industrial development, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, termed Tripathi as the ‘Bhishma Pitamah’ of BJP. “He was a senior leader who worked for the organization from Bharatiya Jana Sangh to BJP throughout his life. I am deeply saddened by the demise of ‘Babuji’, the pride of UP, the pride of all BJP workers and a source of inspiration,” he said.
Congress’s Rajya Sabha member Pramod Tiwari termed Tripathi’s demise as an irreparable loss to the country’s politics. “He was a great leader, a combative advocate and speaker. He was a true nationalist and a visionary politician, who changed the political scenario of the country and the state with his unique qualities,” Tiwari said.
A condolence meeting was also organised at the Prayagraj office of the Samajwadi Party.
