GFP: Both Cong, BJP to blame, now mass agitation needed

Margao: Goa Forward Party’s (GFP) Vijai Sardesai on Sunday strongly advocated the need for galvanizing mass support over the Mhadei issue even as he accused both the major national parties of being complicit in the row.
“Both Congress and BJP are involved in the issue,” Sardesai said, speaking to reporters. “BJP has conspired with Karnataka over the issue. And it was Congress which started it. Congress is taking credit over the formation of the Mhadei tribunal that gave its order in favour of Karnataka. And it’s a fact, as it was when Digambar Kamat was chief minister when Congress was in office that the Mhadei tribunal was formed though we could have won the case in the Supreme court.”
Sardesai said that only a mass agitation by the people of Goa could save the Mhadei.
“Only people of Goa can wage a battle over Mhadei. BJP has devised this plot – approving Karnataka’s project and asking Goa to move the Supreme court. The case will never come up. The ploy is to kill Goans by depriving them of water,” he alleged.
