A total of 123 gold medals were given to 117 students. One of them received the highest three gold medals. As many as 72% of the gold medallists are girls. Degrees were distributed to over 1.75 lakh students of the university.
Governor Mishra, who is also the Chancellor of the university, called for developing a research culture and gave direction to fundamental establishments in the state’s universities. He said students should get opportunities to directly connect with ancient knowledge and research being done at the global level.
“Youth studying in the universities should be aware of their constitutional rights along with the fundamental duties and the nation’s great culture. The Constitution is not just a book related to governing the country. It is the conductor of our lofty life traditions,” said Mishra in his address.
He also said New Education Policy (NEP) is completely student-centric, where, along with education, special attention is paid to character building of the students. He called for preparing university curricula under NEP that makes students aware of the surrounding environment along with the subject under study.
“I am happy to see in this convocation ceremony that more girls have received gold medals. This shows their hard work and dedication. Students must always strive to learn new things and not just focus on rote learning. They should engage in practical education that stays for a lifetime. Teachers must also keep studying so that they are able to engage students with the latest information,” said Mishra.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajeev Jain said, “The biggest message I want to give to all students is that the student within each one of us should always be alive. May we all continue to learn throughout life and grow.”
