A minor earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale, hit Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, on Sunday night. The quake did not result in any damage to property or loss of life. The tourism here is unaffected.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 11.15 pm on Sunday night, January 8.
The National Center for Seismology, which monitors quakes in and around the Indian subcontinent, took to Twitter to share more details about this. On January 5, an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 hit Afghanistan on Thursday, and tremors were felt in the Jammu-Kashmir and Delhi-NCR regions. Prior to this, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 jolted Delhi and surrounding areas at around 1:19 am on January 1.
The latest quake in Kashmir on Sunday night is the third one in the first 10 days of 2023.
