Panaji: With dense fog shrouding the national capital and disrupting flights, flyers in Goa were left in the lurch as they found their travel plans delayed by 2 to 3 hours. With more than 30 flights out of Delhi delayed, Goa International Airport and Manohar International Airport witnessed the ripple effects.
IndiGo’s Delhi-Goa flight 6E2089 landed at Dabolim at 2.30pm instead of its expected arrival of 12.30pm. The 6E2329 Delhi-Goa flight landed at Dabolim at 4.30pm as against its scheduled arrival of 1.40 pm. The flight, which was supposed to take off from Delhi at around 11am, managed to take to the skies only after lunch at 2.22pm.
According to flight records, at least 35 flights were showing a delayed status at Dabolim as airlines battled the impact of the poor visibility in Delhi.
“I booked a flight from Goa to Jammu, but now my Delhi to Jammu flight is delayed by almost 6 hours,” said a frustrated flyer Abhishek.
To try and prepare flyers for the disruption, airlines issued alerts to passengers informing them to expect delays. “Due to dense fog and poor visibility in Delhi, flight arrivals and departures are impacted. Please check your flight status before leaving for the airport and for cancelled flights,” IndiGo tweeted.
IndiGo, which is the leading low-cost carrier in the country, saw many of its connecting flights delayed across the country.
The IndiGo 6E5044 Delhi-Goa flight was delayed by over six hours, missing its 12.05 departure time and taking off at 3.41pm.
With a cold front gripping north India, airlines expect the disruptions to continue for a few more days.
