EOU sub-inspector’s driver dies by suicide due to family dispute
Patna: A driver of a sub-inspector of Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of the state police, allegedly died by suicide in Patna on Sunday morning, the police said.
The deceased has been identified as Bhushan Kumar (37), a resident of Karori Chak in Phulwarisharif.
His body was found with a noose around his neck, hanging from the ceiling fan at the residence of EOU’s SI Shambhu Kumar at Police Colony under Gardanibagh police station area. The SI immediately informed the police and the family members of the deceased about the incident. Bhushan was hired as a private driver of the SI about a year ago. Apart from driving, he also worked as a gardener.
Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon said police got the information about the incident around nine in the morning. “No suicide note has been recovered from his room. It has come to light that the victim was tensed for quite some time due some family dispute. Family members have been informed and police have been further investigating the matter,” he said.
Before committing suicide, Bhushan had searched ‘how to commit suicide’ on YouTube channel on his mobile phone. Police seized the mobile of the deceased found in the room, he was living. At the same time, the brother of the deceased Mahi Raj has accused of murder.
Gardnibagh police station SHO Ranjit Rajak said the CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the house was checked and there was no foul play. “Bhushan went to his room around 6.45pm and had not left his room since then. No one entered his room,” he said.
