Dibrugarh: Police arrested three drug peddlers from Lahowal area of Dibrugarh district on Saturday night, and recovered 35.4 gram of heroin and cash to the tune of Rs 5.4 lakh from their possession. Five mobile phones and two vehicles, used by the drug peddlers, have also been confiscated.
The operation was led by additional SP (headquarters) Bitul Chetia and was assisted by the officer-in-charge of Lahowal police station and in-charge of Mohanbari police outpost.
The accused have been identified as Rupjit Baruah, a resident of Makum in Tinsukia district, Udipta Bora and Mukul Bora, both residents of Titabar in Jorhat district.
A case has been registered against the trio at the Dibrugarh police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
