VADODARA: It was a tough contest to find the best among a bevy of beauties - but the 1934 Packard 1107 Coupe Roadster rode way ahead of the other competitors that have converged on the lawns of the magnificent old world Laxmi Vilas Palace from across the world.
Owned by Gautam Singhania, chairman and managing director of Raymond Group, the stunning vintage beauty won the 'Best of Show' award in the 10th edition of the 21 Gun Salute Concours d'Elegance on Sunday.
In the bike category, 1958 Velocette Venom 500 single owned by Pune-based Reuben Solomon stole the show and won the 'Best of Show' award.
The three-day vintage car exhibition was hosted by the royal Gaekwads who too own some of the classic vintage automobiles.
"It was an amalgamation of splendid automobiles with India's rich heritage and culture. It was an honour to organize this exhibition where the participants didn't just bring the cars but fascinating stories behind them too," said Madan Mohan, chairman and managing trustee, 21 Gun Salute Heritage and Cultural Trust that organized the show.
"It was good to have so many vintage cars from across the globe in the city. Each of these automobiles has its own interesting stories and many have a royal connection," said Samarjitsinh Gaekwad, royal scion.
