Mentally unwell Narol woman causes ruckus in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: A 28-year-old woman who has learning difficulties created a major ruckus on in the Vatva area of the city. At least seven persons were injured as the woman pelted stones at passersby, residents and shopkeepers in the areas.
Many videos were circulated on social media alleging that the the woman was causing a commotion because she was under the influence of some drug. As news of the matter spread, many people came out on to the streets. Videos on social media show the woman running about, gathering her clothes and pelting stones. At one point she tried to lies down outside a shop she had pelted with stones.
Narol police inspector R M Zala said police rushed to the spot and brought her to the police station. "She caused a ruckus at the police station too. The woman was identified as a resident of the Bag-e-Kausar area. She was living alone and had was involved in such incidents in the past as well."
Zala said the woman was twice divorced. Her family live in Mumbai and here lives her alone. Zala said the woman had not taken any drugs but is of unsound mind.
"We got the orders from court and she was sent to an institution run by an NGO for further treatment," he said.
