MUMBAI: Matunga police have arrested three alleged cyber criminals for cheating a senior citizen of over Rs 1 lakh after posing as bank officers.
The accused had sent the complainant a message saying his bank account was blocked and he needed to update his Pan Card KYC details.
On the pretext of helping him, the accused took the OTP from the complainant and transferred the money for buying a mobile phone. The police arrested two accused, Saif Ali, 23, and Kamal Ansari, 22, from Bihar, and the third accused, Arun Kumar Mandal, 24, was arrested from Jharkhand.
The complainant told investigators that accused had sent him link to update his details and share OTP. As he shared the OTP, Rs 1.09 lakh were debited from his account. — Mateen Hafeez
