Retd SP shot dead by SI in Dhemaji

Dibrugarh: A retired SP was shot dead by a probationary sub-inspector (SI) of police in Assam’s Dhemaji district on Saturday morning over a land-related dispute. Alok Konwar, the probationary SI posted at Dibrugarh police station, fired two fatal shots at Amulya Barua who died on the spot. The incident occured at Bhehpara village at 9.40 am.
After committing the crime, Konwar surrendered at Dhemaji police station.
Police said Barua had retired as an SP from Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district in 2017. tnn
