LUCKNOW: A company dealing in insurance of farmers' crops and authorized by central and state government lodged a complaint against two of its officials for committing a fraud of over Rs 33 lakh.
The complainant, Saurabh Kumar, who is an employee of the company housed at a complex at Rana Pratap Marg, said he and his colleague Ashish found fake insurance under the PM Crop Insurance Scheme and they conducted a check.
"During investigation it surfaced that one Amit Sharma and Arvind Yadav of the company had made a claim of over Rs 29 lakh using Ashish's ID and over Rs 4 lakh using my ID and passwords. We are not aware of the process of registration for the insurance and we do not know the farmers who were made beneficiaries for getting the claim for crop insurance," he said.
"The insurance policies were issued from Gorakhpur and Kushinagar districts, where we were never posted," said Saurabh in the complaint.
He said he and Ashish were posted at the company's branch in Hazratganj.
Saurabh said Amit used to prepare the record of claims against the insurance policies and it was finally disposed of by Arvind Yadav who used to give approvals for the claims. "They used the revenue papers of the fields of the farmers to get the claims," the complainant said.
SHO, Hazratganj, Akhilesh Mishra said that an FIR was lodged.
