MYSURU: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said all complaints pertaining to KS Manjunath alias 'Santro Ravi' will be probed by police to unravel his links.
Bommai, who was in Mysuru to inaugurate the BJP SC Morcha national executive meeting, denied the opposition's claim that the accused is connected to the government. "I've also asked police to verify his antecedents, previous cases from two decades, and his links with lawmakers and their relatives," he said.
"Ravi has been operating for two decades, claiming proximity to politicians of all parties. Hence, he has links with many, including opposition party leaders as well. The investigation will help provide evidence and unravel the truth," Bommai said.
On the viral photographs and videos of himself and other ministers with Santro Ravi, Bommai said politicians interact with many people whose backgrounds are not scrutinised. "A photo taken in some context cannot be construed to mean one is known to the accused. Anyone can create such things using modern digital technology. Only a thorough investigation can help bring out the truth, and there is no question of protecting anyone," he added.
The opposition Congress took to Twitter and posted Ravi's videos and photos with ministers. In one photo, Ravi was seen sitting behind bundles of currency notes spread on a table. The party sought to know why the Enforcement Directorate and income tax department could not detect him. After some audio clips of Santro Ravi bragging about his proximity to government and police officials went viral, former CM
HD Kumaraswamy sought a police investigation into it.
Bommai also reacted angrily to the Congress' claim that Vidhana Soudha has become a shopping mall following the seizure of Rs 10.5 lakh from a PWD engineer. Bommai countered by saying Vidhana Soudha was the Congress' corruption bank when it was in power.
"During their reign in the state, Rs 22 lakh was discovered in minister Puttarangashetty's office. The party did not seek any explanation from him. Those who were silent about it then have no moral right to talk about corruption now. They later closed the case by handing it over to the ACB ," the CM said.

The logo and mascot designed by Bansilal Ketki of Odisha were selected through a contest. They were released at a virtual function in which Union ministers Pralhad Joshi and Anurag Singh Thakur participated.
