Coimbatore: A wild tusker entered the residential area of Kanuvai and charged towards motorists on Saturday morning. The elephant, however, didn’t cause any casualties.
According to the forest department, the border night patrol teams had seen the tusker coming out of the reserve forest and entering the plains near a marriage hall at Kanuvai around 8.45pm on Friday. “They closely monitored the elephant and chased it away into the reserve forest around 2.30am on Saturday,” a forest officer said.
The tusker came out of the forest again and was spotted at Kanuvai at 6am. Motorists thronged the roadside to see the tusker. It charged towards them, but they managed to flee. TNN
