‘Strong basement’ takes MCG office budget up by 10%
Gurgaon: The estimate cost of construction of MCG’s office building at Vyapar Sadan has increased from Rs 117.61 crore to Rs 129 crore. MCG officials said that the cost has increased due to additional work for providing a strong foundation to the basement. The state government has also approved the enhanced cost of the project.
It would be an 11-storey building and there will be three basements in the building with a provision to park 450 vehicles. The first basement is under construction.
Radheshyam Sharma, MCG superintending engineer, said, “The construction cost was hiked due to the additional piling work at the site.”
The new office building will also have the citizen facilitation centres (CFCs) on the ground floor as well as a library and other public spaces including ATMs and shops. There will also be provision for a dispensary and crèche in the new office building, as per the original plan. Moreover, the civic body will require only six floors and the remaining four floors can be leased out to generate revenue.
