PRAYAGRAJ: Following the demise of 88- year old veteran leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and former governor of West Bengal, Keshari Nath Tripathi, condolences poured in for the family by the top leaders of the country, cutting across party lines.
In her message, President Droupadi Murmu termed Tripathi as a great legal luminary who would be remembered for his public service.
In his message, vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar said that Tripathi would always be remembered for his erudition, exemplifying the highest degree of commitment and dedication to public service.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too joined the country while condoling the demise of the senior leader.
The PM tweeted: “Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi Ji was respected for his service and intellect. He was well versed in Constitutional matters. He played a key role in building BJP in UP and worked hard for the state’s progress. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who also visited the residence of Tripathi, at Prayagraj and paid his last respects to the senior leader said, “Pt Keshri Nath Tripathi was a senior leader of the BJP and a dedicated party worker. He successfully carried out any responsibility that was entrusted to him always. He upheld his commitment to one ideology and had the ability to take along members from all sections of society. Be it as an excellent advocate, a leading constitutional expert, speaker of legislative assembly or governor, he always ably carried out all his responsibilities”.
I offer my humble respects to him on behalf of the state and its people, he added.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee while expressing grief tweeted: “I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi ji, former governor of West Bengal. A man of great substance, his contributions to our country will remain etched in all our minds”.
Along with them, minister of industrial development, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, termed Tripathi as BJP's Bhishma Pitamah, a senior leader who worked for the organisation from Bharatiya Jana Sangh to BJP throughout his life.
“I am deeply saddened by the demise of "Babu ji", the pride of UP, the pride of all the workers of BJP and a source of inspiration," he said.
Likewise, Congress party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Pramod Tiwari has termed the death of the former governor as an irreparable loss to the politics of the country.
Describing Kesari Nath as a great leader, combative advocate and speaker, Tiwari said he was a true nationalist and visionary politician, who changed the political scenario of the country and the state with his unique qualities.
Similarly, a condolence meeting was organised at the Samajwadi Party district office. Sitting district president of SP, Yogesh Chandra Yadav expressed grief on the demise of the former Governor and said that Kesari Nath Tripathi was a skilled politician and an experienced and skilled knower of the law.
