NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his lover's husband and burning his body in north Delhi's Wazirabad area, police said.
The accused, Munishddin, works as a plumber and lives in Wazirabad. He was arrested from Rohini Sector 16, police said.
On January 2, police said, they recovered the charred body of a man in front of Ram Ghat in Wazirabad. The deceased was identified as Rashid, who worked as an electrician. They also recovered a paper cutter and a matchbox from the spot.
Special commissioner of police (crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said: "Munishddin and Rashid were neighbours and close friends and would often visit each other's house."
During regular visits, Rashid's wife and Munishddin developed an illicit relationship. Munishuddin used to visit Rashid's house often to meet her and later they both hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him after the relations between Rashid and his wife turned sour, according to police..
On the day of the incident, the accused took Rashid to Ram Ghat as planned and both of them consumed alcohol. Rashid, who was in an inebriated condition, was then stabbed by Munishddin. Thereafter, he slit his throat and burnt his body with the help of inflammable bushes.
