INDORE: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday set the tone for the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), urging NRIs to bat for investment in the state and promising to look after their families in their absence.
The chief minister asked the NRIs to extend their stay after PBD and attend the two-day Global investors Meet on January 11-12. "You should act as ambassadors of Madhya Pradesh and motivate people to invest in the state," he said. The NRIs proposed that the state government identify products from MP that can be exported to UK ahead of the expectations of the Free Trade Agreement likely to be signed soon. A 75 member delegation from the Friends of MP, UK chapter -- including doctors, chartered accountants, software developers and students - has arrived in Indore to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas. "Spread the word around about the marvels of Madhya Pradesh," the CM said. Chouhan, who hosted a dinner for the NRIs on the eve of PBD, said the Indian diaspora from Madhya Pradesh will not have to worry about issues faced by their families in the state.

We will be forming a portal that will help you (NRIs) to communicate the problems, we will resolve them.” He asked the NRIs to contribute to the development of their villages, cities in ‘whatever possible’ manner.
He asked the visitors to plant a tree in their name at a recently developed Global Park. He said additional chapters of Friends of MP – existing in 12 nations -- will be formed in foreign cities where people from MP reside.
