Sharma’s prompt action to stop blood loss saved sexagenarian’s life after he severed an arm

While she has won accolades for her promptness displayed at the station that day, the medico turned to be a guardian angel for the sexagenarian who was travelling alone and bleeding profusely from the arm severed above the elbow and badly mangled.
Sharma had just boarded an intercity express train to Ahmedabad when she heard a scream and the train which had started its journey suddenly halted. She witnessed that a large crowd had surrounded a man and the RPF personnel who arrived at the spot were coordinating the rescue efforts.
Not wasting any time, Sharma rushed in to rescue the person and her lifesaving skills saved the elderly man’s life.
Sharma wrapped the man’s body with a dupatta to stop the bleeding and started providing him with first aid. After almost 10 minutes when the passenger stabilized, he was rushed to a hospital with the help of 108 emergency ambulance service.
Sharma’s father, Dr Sandeep Sharma, a plastic surgeon told TOI, “My daughter also shared the medical history of the passenger with the paramedic staff of 108 emergency ambulance service. She received so many blessings from onlookers and all the passengers.”
