Nagpur: An alert guard of Nagpur Central Jail intercepted undertrial Pranay Borse who was trying to sneak in a mobile handset and two batteries in his underwear.
Borse, who has already served a seven-year conviction term, is an undertrial in another case registered at Malegaon police station. He was earlier lodged in Aurangabad prison till 2018 before being transferred to Nagpur on administrative grounds.
Central jail SP Anup Kumre said that Borse was taken to Gujarat in a case under production warrant. “The mobile handset and two batteries were found in his possession at the gate where he was frisked and checked for prohibited items before he could step inside the barracks in the Nagpur Central Jail,” said Kumre, adding, Borse was taken to Gujarat and brought back by the escort cell guards of city police.
Borse was handed over to Dhantoli police for registration of an offence before he was sent back to jail. Dhantoli police would now seek a production warrant to arrest Borse.
