THANE: A sub-inspector posted at Powai police station in Mumbai died after falling from a running train while trying to get down at Kalwa station in Thane, police said on Saturday.
The body of the sub-inspector identified as Manoj Bhosle (57) was found along tracks near Kalwa railway station on Friday night.
His body was found along the railway tracks adjoining platform number 4 at 9pm, said senior inspector Pandhari Kande at the Thane railway police station.
The police immediately rushed the 57-year-old to the local hospital where he was declared dead.
“He had left office on Friday evening for home after completing his duty and might have travelled beyond Kalwa and was returning in a fast train. He must have boarded a fast train that didn’t stop at Kalwa,” Kande added.
The police said they had found no foul play and had registered an accidental death case in the incident.
