RAJKOT: The Jamnagar police have filed a chargesheet in the rape of a four-year-old girl within five days of the FIR being lodged. Police arrested the accused, Sargen alias Sajan Vishvakarma (35), a native of Nepal on January 2, within hours of the FIR being registered.
The girl was allegedly raped on January 1. Police collected the CCTV footage in which Vishvakarma is seen taking the girl. Cops also recorded the statements of around six witnesses including the girl's grandmother under whose care she was playing, some society members, a shopkeeper where the girl was taken to get chocolate etc.
The rape survivor's statement under CrPC section 164 before the magistrate was also recorded. The rape survivor's 's medical examination as well as the forensic tests of the blood and semen samples found on the clothes was done expeditiously.
The FIR states that Vishvakarma went to a housing society where a member of his community worked as a security guard. He saw the girl playing with her grandmother.
Vishvakarma knew the family and asked for water. When the girl's grandmother went inside to fetch water for him, he took the girl to an isolated place by luring her with chocolates.
When the girl returned home, she was crying and her father saw her bleeding from her private parts. When he asked the girl, she said that 'Sajan Mama' had taken her, after which the family approached the police.
