Mysuru: Ahead of
BJP’s SC Morcha national executive meet, the saffron party sharpened its attack on Congress, accusing it of using Dalits as vote banks but not working for their welfare.
The BJP national SC Morcha chief Lal Singh Arya on Friday said the Modi government has increased the budgetary allocation for SCs from Rs 11,000 crore to Rs 59,000 crore. Under the rural poor welfare scheme, 35 percent is reserved for Dalit communities. This explains the BJP's concern for SCs, he told reporters. During the UPA government, the Congress accommodated four SCs in the cabinet. In PM Modi’s ministry, there are 12 Dalit ministers. There are four governors belonging to SCs in India, he said, explaining the political power extended to Dalit communities.
Arya said senior Dalit leaders from the party visited 40 Dalit colonies in the city to review the facilities and schemes extended to them by the government. tnn
