PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated a state engineering college at Chhatauna Bishunpur during his visit to Sheohar district on the second day of his Samadhan Yatra in the state. He also inspected the available infrastructure and facilities related to academic activities there.
Expressing satisfaction over the establishment of an engineering college in Sheohar, that is one of the most backward districts of the state, the CM said hostels should be constructed for boys and girls and residential facility for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
Recalling his experience as an engineering student, the CM stressed on maintenance and cleanliness of the campus. He also asked the officials to facilitate screening of films on the campus on weekend, besides promotion of sports.
Talking to mediapersons, Nitish said necessary instructions had been given for the reopening of Riga sugar mill in Sitamarhi district.
He said as the sugar mill's owner had quit it, alternative arrangements were being looked into for its reopening.
The CM, accompanied by state legislative council chairman Dewesh Chandra Thakur, ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Sanjay Kumar Jha, Ashok Kumar Choudhary and Sumit Kumar Singh, also inspected the ongoing developmental activities at the village level in Sheohar and Sitamarhi districts.
He visited Sheikh Basahiya village under Piprahi block of Sheohar and Raghopur Bakhri village under Dumra block of Sitamarhi district.
At Sheikh Basahiya village, he inspected the activities of a self-help group, besides interacting with its Jeevika Didis. The CM also enquired about the activities of Sharda Kishori Group formed under Mahadalit Mission.
At Raghopur Bakhri, he went around the campus of Ambedkar residential school. He said the students there were being taught on the Smart Class model of Banka district, adding that such schools will change the face of rural
Bihar. After inspecting the construction of the Belwa embankment, he asked the officials to construct a metalled road on it to provide road communication to the people of the area.
