BJP’s focus on T booths, eyes 90 seats
Hyderabad: BJP is set to unveil its ‘Mission 90’ plan for Telangana on Saturday, with an eye to win 90 assembly seats in the forthcoming elections in the state. Sources said BJP is keen to see that one voter from each sheet of the voter lists in each polling booth becomes a member of the booth committee.
Sunil Bansal, party Telangana affairs in charge, will review booth committee appointments on January 9 after the virtual conference on Saturday addressed by national party chief JP Nadda with 34,000 booth committees and leaders from all 119 assembly segments in Telangana.
All booth committees that adhere to the parameters of the party will be classified as A, B and C in order of their strength. If they are in B and C categories, leaders will be directed to bring them into the top category of A.
Senior leader G Premender Reddy on Friday said the party’s mission in Telangana is focused on booth committees. He said Nadda will give a direction to booth-level activists and leaders on the forthcoming assembly polls.
According to sources, the party has nearly completed appointments of the booth committees, but unlike in the past, leaders were specifically instructed to ensure that the committee in charges and members are not related to their families. “Previously, the composition of booth committees was not done on a serious note. This will change now. Going by our past voting percentages, it has improved vastly thanks to presence of strong booth committees,” a leader said.
The party will also launch a phone number for people to join the party and a ‘Saral’ mobile application party specific to Telangana BJP will be set up. This mobile application will have information of booth-level activists and leaders.
