Mizoram cops hand over Hmar militant to Cachar police

AIZAWL: Mizoram Police on Friday handed over the custody of the president of Hmar People's Convention (Democratic), Lalhmingthanga Sanate, to Cachar police after grilling him for three days.
A senior police official here said several criminal cases are registered against Sanate and other rebels of HPC(D) at different police stations in the Assam border district of Kolasib and the undivided Aizawl district. "The HPC(D) leader and some of his men are wanted in a number of criminal cases, including extortion, while operating from Manipur and Hmarkhawlien (Lakhipur) in Assam's Cachar district," the official said.
