3 held with 90kg ganja worth 9L in Ambernath
Thane: The Anti Narcotics cell of Thane Crime branch have arrested three persons, and have seized 90 kg ganja from his car. Arrested accused identified as Ravi Jaiswal, 35, Hasin Khan, 25, and Mohammad Siddique, 26, are all residents of Ambernath.
Senior inspector, Sanjay Shinde informed that based on a tip off that some persons were to come to Ambernath, the police team laid a trap at the specified spot on Thursday and spotted the trio in an SUV, said the police officer. The entire operation was monitored by Ashok Morale, additional commissioner of police (crime). The police carried out the search and found several plastic bags in which nearly 90 kg ganja was stashed in 59 bundles.
“This ganja is worth Rs 9 lakh in the market and is sold according to the needs of the customers,” said a police officer. The police are now trying to find out as to from where the banned goods was sourced and to whom they were to be sold. “It is suspected that they were to supply the contraband to someone based in Ambernath. Further investigation is underway in this regard and the other accounts will be caught soon,” said Shinde. The police also seized a car worth Rs. 9 lakh from the arrested accused along with their mobile phones. An offence has been registered under NDPS act with Hillline police station in Ulhasnagar. The trio were produced before the local magistrate which remanded them into police custody for further probe. TNN
