Nagpur: CBSE bagged a gold at the Digital India Awards 2022 held in New Delhi on Saturday. The central board’s director (IT) Antariksh Johri received the award from President Droupadi Murmu.
A central government initiative, the Digital India Awards (https:/digitalindiaawards.gov.in) encourage and honour innovative initiatives by government entities at all levels. These awards aim to inspire and motivate not only government entities but also startups and grassroots level digital initiatives in fulfilling the Digital India vision.
CBSE got the gold in the category known as Data Sharing and Use for Socio Economic Development. In this category, recognizing sharing of government data by ministries/departments/organizations, states, smart cities etc with a central repository to create a vibrant data ecosystem in the country for analysis, decision making, innovation, economic development and public good was the criteria.
CBSE has been at the forefront of major digital initiatives which encompass various processes like affiliation, registration of students, uploading of marks, releasing results etc.
Johri and his team have implemented many such major changes over the last two years which provided CBSE an edge over other boards especially during the Covid pandemic.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union minister for communications, electronics & information technology and railways was also present on the occasion. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Vaishnaw recalled how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated the Digital India programme eight years ago.
The minister further elaborated on the comprehensive 10-dimensional vision of the government towards the goal of transforming India. He concluded his speech by extending his compliments to the winners and participants and also thanking the President for attending the ceremony.
Alkesh Kumar Sharma, secretary, ministry of electronics and information technology, said that digitization provides perfect tools to deliver seamless benefits to target groups and reinforces our resolve to transform India into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge economy.
Sharma said, “As India assumes Presidency of G20 this year, there’s an opportunity to inspire the world with our deeply rooted belief in a human centric approach to technology and facilitate greater knowledge sharing in areas like digital, public goods, financial inclusion and technology enabled development.”
The minister for communications, electronics & information technology and railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, released the Digital India Awards 2022 Compendium and presented the first copy to President Murmu.
