‘Contraband worth 84cr seized in ’22’

Silchar: Mizoram & Cachar Frontier BSF seized 3,98,608 Yaba tablets, 12.374kg heroin, 34.82kg opium, 1,879.46kg ganja, 389 head of cattle, Rs 19.26 lakh in fake Indian currency notes, three weapons with magazines, 786 rounds of ammunition and other contraband items valued at Rs 84 crore in 2022, a BSF communiqué said.
Besides, 94 Indians, 30 Bangladeshis and 27 Myanmarese were also apprehended for their alleged involvement in various illegal activities, the communiqué added. TNN
