Ludhiana: Prominent industrialist and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora met chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Santosh Kumar Yadav, in Delhi to discuss various issues related NHAI projects in Ludhiana and Punjab.
After meeting Yadav, Arora informed, “Ludhiana being one of biggest industrial cities in the country with over five million population, the traffic situation here is getting chaotic day by day due to pending road projects. In this regard, I met the chairman of NHAI and drew his attention towards inconvenience faced by public and commuters in Ludhiana due to the pending projects.”
He informed he took up various issues including pending work at Sherpur bypass and four bridges across Sidhwan Canal towards South City.
Talking about the traffic caused due to these incomplete projects, he said, “The projects are causing traffic snarls and situation has become nothing less than a nightmare for commuters, because the works are going on in almost all major areas. Frequent and long traffic jams are making citizens lose their temper as it takes long to commute between office and home.”
Arora added that the NHAI chairman assured him time-bound completion of various projects. The elevated road project is expected to complete by June, while other major projects will be completed by the end of the year, he informed.
