Provide best facilities to make G20 delegates’ visit memorable: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: Reviewing arrangements for the 11 G-20 events that are scheduled to be held in UP from February to August, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday instructed officials to ensure that the state rolls out its best facilities and hospitality for guests.
He said that the event should be used as an opportunity to upgrade the infrastructure of cities and added that the summit would serve as a platform to showcase the state’s art, culture, and heritage.
Of the 11 events, maximum six will be held in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, three in Agra and one each in Lucknow and Greater Noida.
Directing officials to ensure that the guests have a positive and memorable experience during their stay in UP, the CM said that detailed planning of all events and cultural programmes for the 11 events should be completed at the earliest.
“UP is a very prosperous state from the point of view of food and hospitality. Besides choosing the best local cuisine and drinks, the preferences of visitors from other countries should be considered,” the CM said.
He said that officials should give priority to ODOP items while planning gifts for the visiting dignitaries.
“Best places should be chosen for their stay. Special cultural programmes and local dance and art presentations should be made for the guests at airports, roads, public places, hotels etc. The guests should be provided access to high-speed internet,” he said.
A government spokesperson said that the department of culture and tourism had been given the task of finalising cultural programmes to welcome the guests. “Planning is in the final stage. A committee has been formed under the principal secretary, urban development department, to oversee the work,” the spokesman said.
The CM said that the event should be used as an opportunity to spruce up cities where programmes are scheduled. “Traffic system in these cities will have to be made more robust,” he added.
The divisional commissioners of Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi and Meerut are preparing for the implementation of the action plan for programmes scheduled to take place in their respective cities. Chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra is also reviewing arrangements for the events.
