ACB nabs woman cop on graft charge

Ramgarh: Officials of the Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested the woman police station in charge here on charges of allegedly taking a Rs 10,000 bribe for managing a rape case registered with the Mandu police station in 2022.
DSP Shadique Anwar Rizvi of the ACB said a team along with two government staff witnesses on Thursday arrested Menjari Birsa while receiving the bribe. “She demandedthe bribe from one Tapan Giri for managing a rape case against him,” Rizvi said.
Giri had filed a complaint with the ACB in Hazaribag on January 4 in connection with the bribe demand. Later, the ACB laid a trap and caught the officer “red-handed”.
“The cop in question had raided the house of the accused on December 27, 2022, and allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 to help him in the case,” Rizvi added. TNN
