Gurgaon: A gang of four allegedly involved in around two dozen cases of burglary was busted and its members were arrested by Gurgaon’s Sector 10 police on Thursday. Police said the accused would break the doors of the houses at night and commit the crimes.
While the cops nabbed Rajesh, Prakash Soni and Najmula from Delhi, their fourth accomplice, Priyanshu, was caught from Uttar Pradesh. Police also recovered 40 kg gold ornaments, 500 gm silver jewellery and Rs 4.45 lakh from the possession of the arrested persons.
Cops said the accused had committed several burglaries in the city and nearby areas and they were on the lookout for them for some time now.
During questioning, the gang members confessed to their crimes and revealed that they would do a recce of their target area in the morning hours and at night they would come in a car and burgle houses. They have carried out nearly 20 burglaries in Delhi, Panipat, Sonipat and Jhajjar, besides Gurgaon. On December 22 last year, they had broken into a flat in Meghdoot Apartment in Delhi's Dwarka area and fled with valuables.
The Sector 10 police said they have alerted the police stations of the areas where the arrested persons had carried out the burglaries.
An FIR has been registered against them under IPC sections 378 (theft) and 34 (common intention).
“The accused will be produced in a district court on Friday,” said a police officer.
