Coimbatore: Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) sleuths arrested a 36-year-old man for possession of 1,270 ganja-laced chocolates for sales at Kannampalayam near Sulur on Pallapalayam-Pappampatti road here on Wednesday.
An official source said a team led by PEW police sub-inspector Rajeshkanna nabbed P Manojkumar Singh, a native of Soso village in Kendujhar district in Odisha, based on a tip that he was engaged in the sale of ‘ganja chocolates’.
“They caught him red-handed selling ‘ganja chocolates’ in front of Amma Mess at Kannampalayam Pirivu,” the source said. PEW sleuths have seized 32 pockets of ‘ganja chocolates’ weighing 6.4kg from Manojkumar Singh.
According to the source, Singh has been running a fancy store on Pappampatti Road near Sulur for the past six years and staying with his family at Pallapalayam.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that Singh procured ‘ganja chocolates’ when he visited his hometown recently.
“Thousands of guest workers are working in and around Sulur, Kannampalayam, Pallipalayam and Pappampatti areas. Singh has been supplying ‘ganja chocolates’ to them at 40 per count,” the source said.
