Synopsis

The crafty wordplay has the Internet in splits.

doodh canvaAgencies
The brands cleverly tweaked words from this iconic dialogue and used it as billboard slogans.
“Doodh mangoge, kheer denge, Kashmir mangoge toh cheer denge.”

(Ask for milk, we will give you kheer, Ask for Kashmir, we will tear you apart)

The 2002 movie ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ came and went without making a dent at the box-office. But this dialogue became a pop-culture phenomenon. No Indo-Pakistan cricket matches or political debates are complete without at least an honourable mention of this line.

Delivery apps Zomato and Blinkit came together for a quirky marketing campaign. The brands cleverly tweaked words from this iconic dialogue and used it as billboard slogans. The grocery delivery app’s yellow billboard reads “ Doodh mangoge, doodh denge (Ask for milk and we will deliver it)." Whereas the food delivery platform’s billboard showcases the slogan “ Kheer mangoge, kheer denge (Ask for kheer and we will deliver it).”

Zomato shared the hilarious ad on Instagram and wrote, “Insta collab featuring a billboard collab.” The post became viral and gained over 94,000 likes.
Many other brands quickly swooped in to take a bite of the ‘ doodh and kheer’ pie and came up with their renditions of the classic dialogue. One such rendition was shared by the Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal on Twitter. The post shows a billboard from the dairy farming portal Animall. in, with the lines, “Doodh aur kheer ke liye bhains (buffalo) denge.” (Will give buffalo for milk and kheer). Goyal gushed at the display of creativity and wrote, “The best I have seen so far.”
Streaming giant Netflix also came up with a filmy twist to the dialogue. The Twitter handle of the app tweeted a slogan, “ Friday mangoge, Wednesday denge.” The tweet is currently sitting pretty with more than 18K likes and one million views!
Zomato acquired Blinkit (formerly Grofers) in an all-stock deal of Rs 4,447 crore in June 2022.
