Restore traffic signal at Bolshe circle: Locals

Margao: The non-functioning traffic signal at the Bolshe traffic circle, Gogol, Margao, for the last over two months has become a cause of concern for the residents of the surrounding areas. A delegation of residents of Gogol, Arlem, Borda and nearby localities led by Anthony Barbosa and Sneha Bhagwat met chairperson of Margao municipal council Damodar Shirodkar on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to him demanding immediate restoration of the traffic signal.
The residents pointed out that the malfunctioning traffic lights invariably lead to traffic congestion at the traffic junction, which in many cases becomes a cause for accidents.
“The amber light of the signal keeps on blinking causing confusion among both pedestrians and vehicle drivers. Many accidents have taken place at this signal,” Bhagwat told reporters.
Barbosa urged the district administration and the traffic police to deploy personnel at the junction, particularly during peak hours of traffic.
Chairperson Shirodkar acknowledged the concerns of the locals and assured to look into the matter.
