MUMBAI: UP CM Yogi Adityanath has assured Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde that he will allot a plot of land in Ayodhya for construction of a Maharashtra Bhavan.
Shinde said he met the UP CM at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday evening and requested him to allot a land parcel to Maharashtra for constructing a Maharashtra Bhavan in the temple town of Ayodhya. Shinde said Yogi Adityanath accepted the demand and has given in-principle approval for land allotment.
Interestingly, ex-minister Aaditya Thackeray had in June last year said that then CM Uddhav Thackeray would soon talk to the UP CM to seek land for constructing a Maharashtra Sadan in Ayodhya. Aaditya was in Ayodhya in June and took darshan of Ram Lalla. Officials said the Maharashtra Bhavan will be used for providing accommodation to devotees from Maharashtra who visit Ayodhya and the Ram temple. "Yogi Adityanath is on a visit to Mumbai and was welcomed at Raj Bhavan with a bouquet of flowers. At the same time I requested him to give me a place to construct the Maharashtra Bhavan at Sri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. Thanking him for his in-principle approval of this demand, we will soon have darshan of Lord Shri Ram. He was also told that I would come on a visit to Ayodhya," CM Shinde said in a tweet.
Shinde had earlier this week said that he would visit Ayodhya to offer prayers to Lord Ram. However, he did not specify any date or schedule for the visit. Shinde had said religious leaders and mahants from Ayodhya had met him on Monday and extended an invitation to visit Ayodhya. - Chaitanya Marpakwar
