Jaipur: Last year, the North-Western Railway (NWR) rescued or reunited 504 children with their families after they got lost at railway stations, said officials on Thursday.
Officials said that this action is taken under Operation Nanhe Farishte. Apart from children, 71 women and 50 men were also reunited with families.
“A total of 625 persons were either rescued or reunited with their families due to the quick efforts of the railway police force from January to December in 2022. Of this, 504 children, who were either stranded at the railway station or left behind, were reunited with families. Our focus is to ensure the well-being of all our passengers,” said Captain Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer of NWR. Officials said that on Tuesday, a 5-year-old girl was rescued from train no. 14705 Dehar ka Balaji Intercity express by the railway police force.
The complainant informed on Rail Madad and informed that a “child was left behind in the train along with a bag in the third or fourth last coach of the train.” The same day, officials received another call from a passenger informing them that a girl had been left behind in the train.
“On assessing both the complainants, the war room ascertained that both the complaints were about the same matter. Hence, looking at the gravity of the matter, the war room contacted the complainant and collected photographs, information and shared it with concerned RPF officials at Rewari Junction. The RPF officials at Rewari Junction searched the said train and traced out the minor girl at earliest. Once the child was found, she was handed over to the child line,” added the official.
Earlier this week, the railway staff also safely retrieved a laptop bag of a passenger from train No. 12181, which was approximately valued at Rs 33,000 and handed it over to the passenger.
