Jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh stolen from shop in rural Patna

PATNA: A group of armed robbers looted cash and ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh from a jewellery shop near Bairiya Pul under Gopalpur police station area of Patna in the wee hours on Thursday. The thieves entered the shop by cutting the shutter lock and decamped away with valuables in the locker.
The matter came to light when the shop owner, Manjeet Kumar, reached his store in the morning and found the shutter lock broken. When he went inside, evertyhing was scattered on the floor and ornaments and cash were missing. He immediately informed the Gopalpur police station about the robbery. Police rushed and checked the CCTV cameras installed in the shop and nearby areas to find the suspect.
Manjeet said that around seven masked robbers entered his shop by cutting the lock of the cutter with gas cutter and stole jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash from the locker.
SHO Abhishek Ranjan said that around 70 grams of gold ornaments and 14kg of silver have been stolen from the shop. “A case has been registered and police are conducting raid,” he said.
He added, “On Wednesday night, Manjeet locked the steel shutter of the shop and went home. When he reached his shop on Thursday morning, the shutter was broken and gold and silver items were missing.” The CCTV footage of the incident also surfaced in which seven robbers were seen entering the shop by cutting the shutter and after 25 minutes, they left the shop carrying a bag.
